Frequently asked questions
Is the pool shared? Yes, but
remember that Golf Rouvede is not a 'holiday village', so the
pool is never crowded and regularly empty (of people, that is),
particularly during the working day. There are no resident children.
Are pets allowed? Sorry, no
What's the wildlife like? Is there anything
dangerous? There are Deer, Tortoises and Wild Boar in
the woods but they are very timid and seldom seen, There are snakes, but no poisonous
snakes are found in Var. The insects are as numerous and bite
about the same as those in Britain, but the butterflies are fabulous.
There are 3 large carp, lots of small ones, an unknown number
of turtles in the pond and 3 ducks on it, all
of which delight in yesterday's leftover bread. Lizards and beautiful
green climbing frogs
own the garden.
How about the shopping? Flassans is 3k.to the North. It's a smallish
village with all the necessary shops; a small 'casino' market,
a bread and cakeshop, 2 bar/cafes, 2 restaurants, a bank, a post
office, a chemist, a general (tabac) shop, an excellent Butchers
and what appears to be hundreds of hairdressers and estate agents.
Another kilometre to the garage. In the opposite direction is
Gonfaron at 7 k. This is a larger village with many more shops.
There are 3 supermarkets about equidistant, around 10 to 15 minutes
away.
Eating Out? There
are some excellent restaurants in the area ranging from very cheap
to astronomical. They are all typically French (you won't find
a Little Chef and the nearest McDonalds is at Toulon ). There
is a lovely little restaurant in Besse (about 6k) and we particularly
like 'Janets' over the 'hill', down near the coast just West of
Bormes.
How far is the nearest beach? 36
minutes to La Londe where there is a large, relatively quiet beach
and a pleasant marina. There are many more beaches but remember
that this is the Riviera and you will find some beaches full of
sunbathers even in January
